In addition to my desktop rig, I have a portable option that allows me to participate at local LAN parties when I can only play for a couple hours. No need to huff and puff and carry the 60+ lbs main gaming system when I can tote my 8.6lb laptop :D And yes, I've upgraded parts of it over the five months I've had it. Here's the specs

Asus G51J-A1 Republic of Gamers Laptop

Processor: Core i7 720QM @ 1.6Ghz (2.8Ghz w/turbo boost)
Memory: 4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1333
Graphics: NVidia GTX260M 1GB DDR3
Hard drive #1: Samsung PM800 256GB SSD w/TRIM support (OS)
Hard drive #2: Seagate Momentus 500GB 7,200 RPM (Storage)
WiFi: Intel Ultimate-N WiFi Link 6300 802.11b/g/n (dual-band)

Temps with laptops...

It is true that gaming laptops run hot. And yes, my G51J runs hot when gaming. THe combination of a Core i7 720QM and GTX260M is just asking for the laptop to become a little portable oven :) However, my laptop runs rock stable and I've never had any lockups or BSODS, although I have read about others having problems with the early G51 models that came out last year. Asus fixed the issue early on with a BIOS update which effectively clocked down the GTX260M. The Crysis games and Metro 2033 seem to push my laptop the hardest. Unlike my desktop system, I am unable to play all games at the highest resolution with all settings maxed. The only two remedies for cooling on laptops are 1) replace the stock thermal paste with high grade after market paste such as Artic Silver and 2) get a good laptop cooler that has fans to blow in fresh cool air into the bottom of the laptop.
